- Penstock Protection: the valve takes safety and maintenance role for the penstock. Usually in large diameters.
- Turbine inlet Protection: the valve takes safety and maintenance role for the turbine. Usually the valves features high water pressures.
- Water Discharge Line: the valve acts as both a safety and maintenance device for the upstream discharge.
